YEP Leeds – Our Spaces Strategy – Breakfast Seminar

Leeds is going through a real period of growth right now and this is anticipated to continue over the next few years with ambitious plans and developments for the city centre an ongoing focus.
The city, therefore, needs a new and better planned public realm to reflect the diverse population, vibrant culture and burgeoning art scenes that will form a world class city centre fit for the 21st century.
As part of these plans Leeds City Council has released its first ever draft strategy detailing the ambitions for public realm – Leeds Our Spaces Strategy.
The draft strategy focuses on the city centre identifying a number of key projects such as City Square and The Headrow and outlining the big changes and challenges that the city faces over the next eight to ten years regarding the public realm.
Based on seven key principles, and with the ambition for a strong economy and compassionate city, the strategy sets out a ‘people first’ approach, where the benefits and outcomes of the public space schemes can directly improve the health and wellbeing of Leeds citizens.
The ‘Leeds Our Spaces Strategy’ – containing over 40 major schemes – will be a route map to ensure that the delivery of any new public spaces meet the city’s vision for the creation of world class, inclusive and vibrant spaces that become the city’s greatest culture asset. This strategy aims to create a city centre that looks as good as it feels.
As part of the launch of the draft strategy, people who live, work or visit the city are being asked to take part in a conversation to ensure the right principles have been applied, that the ambitions are big enough and that the right challenges and opportunities have been identified.

YEP Leeds and Leeds City Council are hosting a breakfast seminar where you can learn more about the strategy and give your thoughts on the emerging thinking.
The event may interest those looking for CPD for RICS/ RTPI, networking or a good insight into placemaking.
