YEP Southampton

The YEP Southampton Chapter is managed by property professionals from Dorchester Group, AECOM, Taylor Wimpey, Turley and Interserve, and the Chapter launched on 18th July 2018.

Southampton is a major port city on the south coast, located 75 miles south-west of London. The city, which is a unitary authority has an estimated population of 254,000, with the wider metropolitan area including Portsmouth supporting over 1.5million inhabitants, and is thus the 6th largest Urban area in the U.K. Just over a quarter of the jobs available in the city are in the health and education sector, a further 19 percent are property and other business and the third-largest sector is wholesale and retail, which accounts for 16.2 percent. Southampton container port is one of the largest in the UK and also handles over 1,000,000 cruise liner passengers a year.

Southampton city centre is undergoing a period of major change. Numerous large schemes including the regeneration of Ocean Village waterfront and the extension at West Quay shopping centre have recently been delivered. Going forward, Southampton City Council’s ambitious masterplan includes significant regeneration schemes to modernise the city centre. These land mark regeneration schemes include Southampton Central Station, Bargate Quarter and the Royal Pier to name just a few.

This is an exciting time for Southampton and we are very much looking forward to being a part of the evolution of the city by establishing the YEP Southampton Chapter.
